Hello, travelers!
On my last trip to Walt Disney World, I ate for the first time at Maya Grill. Located at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, it is a Mexican restaurant with an interior made to look like a Mayan temple. Since I was staying at this resort for the first time, I wanted to try one of their many dinner options and give a review. I can tell you in complete honesty that this was one of my favorite meals on the trip, hands down!
Now forewarning: I was so hungry and the food was so good, I forgot to be a content creator for a second! I literally only took the two photos featured in this blog post because I was so wrapped up in my meal. But I consider that a good thing! One of my favorite things when I’m on vacation is getting lost in an experience and being present in the moment, and that’s what happened while I ate dinner at Maya Grill.
When you first enter, there is low, golden lighting, soft music, beautiful tile work, and tall ceilings. For those who know popular Internet design aesthetics, it kind of gave me a “global village coffeehouse” vibe due to the warm and cozy earth tones and mixed natural materials everywhere (if you don’t know that, look it up and you’ll see what I mean). Then, halfway through the meal, a musician began playing an acoustic guitar live which was an unexpected delight and added to the relaxed atmosphere.
I ordered their take on Baja Fish Tacos which were topped with napa cabbage, charred pineapple salsa, and chipotle aioli. My friend who I was traveling with got the Campechanos, which were beef brisket and chorizo tacos on grilled tortillas with cheese, caramelized onions, pickled jicama-Napa cabbage slaw, and fresh cilantro. Both dishes came with a side of black beans and chimichurri for dipping. Lastly, we ordered a side of sweet plantains (pictured in the center of the table) to share.
Everything was absolutely delicious, the service was great, and we loved our experience. We also happened to be a little late to our reservation, but we were seated immediately with no problems.
Overall, I would go to this restaurant again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend it. So many people online talk about the other dining locations around Coronado, but I feel like this one is truly slept on! It is a hidden gem that I don’t want to gatekeep! If you are staying at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort or are wanting a Disney dining experience that is outside of the parks, you should definitely check this out.
Hopefully this review of Maya Grill is helpful to you when planning your next Disney vacation and you’re looking for restaurants.
